How to find the right color

    1. Pay attention to undertones – they make all the difference

Even if a color looks neutral at first glance, there is often a warm or cool "secret" behind it. These very undertones determine whether a piece of furniture harmonizes with your room or suddenly looks completely different.

➡️ Tip: Look at samples in daylight and also in the evening. Every light source changes the tone a little bit.

    2. Trendy color or timeless classic?

Ask yourself briefly: Do I want something that is super modern right now? Or something that will make me happy for years to come?

    Both are okay!
Trends bring fresh energy, timeless colors provide calm and consistency. And hey – you can reinvent yourself at any time. Repainting a piece of furniture is faster than you think.

    3. Take your time – your color should suit you

Don't rush things. Colors speak – and the right one just "feels right." When you stand in front of a wall or a piece of furniture and think "Yes, that's exactly me!", then you have found it.

    4. What atmosphere do you want to create?

    Colors are true mood setters:

    • Light tones → open, inviting, light
    • Dark tones → cozy, elegant, snug
    • Bold accents → creative, courageous, modern
Consider how your room or piece of furniture should feel – not just how it looks.

    5. Gather inspiration – mood boards work wonders

Pinterest, Instagram, magazines, or our customer photos are perfect sources.
    Collect:

    • Color samples
    • Fabric swatches
    • Design ideas
    • Reference images

A mood board helps you to visualize your color vision – and everything seems much clearer.

    6. Light changes everything

Daylight, evening light, artificial light – every situation brings a different mood to the color.

That is why: ➡️ Observe the hue throughout the day before you decide. Chalk paint in particular shows different facets depending on the light.

    7. See how colors play with each other

Sometimes it's not the individual color, but the combination. A color looks different next to wood than next to metal. Blue looks different next to orange than it does next to white. Do little tests: What neighboring colors do you have in the room? What materials? This is how a harmonious overall picture is created.

    8. Use our color charts – real, painted samples

Our Chalk Paint color chart and the Wall Paint & Satin Paint color chart contain real, hand-painted color samples – not prints.

    This means:
✅ exact reproduction of the hue
✅ realistic effect of the pigments
    ✅ perfect decision-making aid

And best of all: ✔️ You receive a voucher for your next paint order with the purchase of every color chart.

    9. Test the color directly at your home

With small quantities or leftover paint from your stock, you can create sample areas. Alternatively: paint a piece of cardboard or wood and "try it out" in different places in the room. This way you can see immediately how the tone really works.
