    Plant Pot Upcycling

Turn simple terracotta pots into real eye-catchers with very little effort. Chalk paint gives your plant pots a new base, while transfer foils provide individual designs. Whether boho, vintage, or modern – there are no limits to your creativity. Best of all: this technique also works on plastic or metal planters and makes every piece unique.

    How to achieve the look

    Preparation

Clean the plant pot thoroughly and remove any dust and dirt. For smooth surfaces like plastic, light sanding is recommended for better adhesion.

    Primer

Apply the chalk paint evenly. Depending on the desired opacity, you can apply a second coat.

    Remove masking tape

While the paint is still wet, carefully remove the masking tape.

Allow the paint to dry thoroughly.

    Apply transfer film

    Peel off films & seal

Basically yes – but only with the right sealant. Use a weatherproof clear coat so that your design is protected from rain and UV radiation.

Wax is only suitable for indoor use. For plant pots that are exposed to moisture or kept outdoors, you should definitely use clear varnish. This is significantly more robust and water-resistant.
