    Gilding with metal wax

Give your furniture a touch of luxury with a metal wax finish! This simple technique adds targeted highlights and creates an elegant look. Whether you want to accentuate details or create eye-catching accents, you can create unique effects with metal wax. Discover how to unleash your creativity in just a few steps and achieve impressive results.

    How to achieve the look

    Prepare furniture

Paint your piece of furniture with your desired color. Move the brush deliberately in different directions to create a beautiful textured surface. This texture will later help the metallic wax accents stand out particularly well.

    Seal

Once the paint has dried completely, seal the entire surface of your piece of furniture with a coat of clear wax. This protects the paint layer and prepares it optimally for the metallic wax.

    Apply metal wax

Apply a small amount of metallic wax to a paint palette or mixing mat. Then, use a stencil brush to apply the wax in thin layers onto the prepared, waxed surface. Build up the layers until you have achieved the desired sheen and coverage.

Tip: Alternatively, you can use a stencil to create precise patterns or shapes. For smaller details or very fine application, you can also carefully apply the metallic wax with your finger.

Finished – accents with metallic wax

With Metallic Wax, you can specifically highlight details and give your project more depth and character in no time at all. The effect looks especially beautiful on carvings, edges, profiles, and textured surfaces, where the metallic shimmer changes continuously depending on the incidence of light.

Whether gold, silver, copper, or colorful – Metallic Wax can be applied subtly or built up more intentionally. This allows you to easily refine furniture, frames, and decorations and give them an individual look.

Tip:It is better to start with a little wax and increase the effect gradually. This way, you maintain full control over the result.

    Tips & FAQs

Gilding wax, also known as metal wax, is ideal for adding a luxurious and shiny accent to furniture or other surfaces. You can use it to highlight carvings, emphasize edges, gild stencil designs, or even give entire surfaces a metallic shimmer. It is perfect for breathing new life into vintage pieces or giving modern objects a touch of elegance.

Metal wax is perfect for painted and waxed surfaces, especially if you have a chalk paint look as a base. You can apply it to wood, metal, glass, or even plastic, as long as the surface is properly prepared.

For best results and optimal adhesion, you should have a primed and waxed surface. Applied directly to untreated wood, the wax may behave differently or fail to develop its full coverage and sheen.
