Herbstliches Willkommensschild mit Blätterdruck
Table of Contents

Bring autumn to your doorstep! For this welcome sign, real leaves become stamps: painted with various chalk paints, they leave their fine textures directly on the wood. This way, you create a very personal autumn motif, leaf by leaf.

    How to achieve the look

    Paint sign

Divide your wooden board into two sections and mask off the dividing line with painter's tape. Paint the larger area in a dark shade and the narrower area in a light shade. Carefully remove the tape and let it dry thoroughly.

Tip:Two contrasting colors will later make both the colorful leaves and the lettering stand out beautifully.

    Paint leaves with color

Collect leaves of various shapes and sizes. To keep them nice and supple for stamping, it is best to place them in water after collecting them. Let them drain briefly on a cloth before painting.

Apply different chalk paints thinly with a brush to the underside of the leaf– this is where the leaf veins are particularly pronounced. It is fine for the colors to overlap and blend with each other.

    Place leaves on the sign

Place the painted sheet face down on the sign.

    Press down firmly

    Apply lettering

    Seal shield

    Tips & FAQs
