    Painting walls

A fresh coat of paint can completely transform a room. Annie Sloan Wall Paint offers a luxurious, matte finish that not only looks beautiful but also stands up to everyday life. In this guide, you will learn how to paint your walls like a pro and achieve a smooth, streak-free result.

    How to achieve the look

    Preparation

Carefully cover floors and furniture and dismantle or mask off skirting boards and switches with masking tape. Make sure that the wall is clean and dry.

Tip: For highly absorbent walls or rough plaster, it is recommended to thin the first coat with a little water (approx. 10–20%) so that the paint penetrates better.

    Edges & Corners

Pre-paint the edges and corners first using a brush or a small roller. Work quickly so that you can continue directly "wet-on-wet" with the large surface.

    Roll the surface

Apply the wall paint with the large roller using even “W” or “M” motions. Ensure that the roller is always well-saturated to achieve a streak-free result.

    Second coat & finish

Let the paint dry thoroughly (approx. 2–4 hours). Generally, one coat is sufficient; for maximum color depth and perfection, follow up with a second coat.

Yes, to ensure the paint reaches the deep spots of the plaster, you should dilute the first coat with about 20% water. This makes application significantly easier and ensures that no white spots are left in the plaster.
